Schools Partnered with CodeWV
Track what schools have participated in CodeWV’s professional learning programs.
Today’s students will never know a life without computers, smartphones, apps, or AI devices like Alexa. While our digital footprint is here to stay and evolve, computer science jobs are in every industry, in every state, and they're projected to grow at twice the rate of all other jobs. Yet while 67% of all new jobs in STEM are in computing, only 10% of STEM graduates are in computer science.
Forging a Partnership
The West Virginia University Center for Excellence in STEM Education’s CodeWV program and the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) are offering professional learning programs to ensure every school in West Virginia has a teacher prepared to provide age-appropriate computer science curriculum to students. With support from Code.org and Apple, teachers also have the potential to receive an advanced credential in computer science after completion of the program.
Educator Benefits
- There is no cost for teachers or schools to participate in the professional learning or to receive the curricula.
- Lodging, food and travel are provided to participate in the workshops thanks to the generosity of the West Virginia Department of Education.
- With support from Code.org and Apple, teachers also have the potential to receive an advanced credential in computer science after completion of the program.
